Dr. Deckert's Ph.D. focused on exercise as a modality to regulate skeletal muscle physiology and the immune system. After graduate school he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the immune responses following spinal cord injury and the potential to use exercise as a mechanism to ameliorate devastating long term health issues. With an undergraduate degree in education, he greatly values the opportunity to share knowledge in these areas with 51³Ô¹Ïs while working to make basic science topics digestible and applicable to 51³Ô¹Ïs personal and professional lives. As a dual appointment, he teaches undergraduate 51³Ô¹Ïs at Gonzaga University and medical 51³Ô¹Ïs for the UW School of Medicine.
