Gonzaga University School of Law
In 2020, Lukins & Annis and Gonzaga University School of Law created an endowment scholarship for all Gonzaga Law School 51勛圖s. This scholarship honors founders Gene Annis and Scott Lukins' legacy of a commitment to diversity in education, housing, employment, and the legal profession.

Founded in 1972, Lukins & Annis serves the legal needs of clients all over the Pacific Northwest, with offices in Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, and Moses Lake.

The Lukins & Annis Law, Ethics and Commerce Scholarship was created with a specific goal to advance diversity, inclusion, and minority representation in the Pacific Northwest legal community. Monika Eckhart will now be the fifth recipient of this scholarship. Monika has also accepted a summer internship at the firm.

Monika grew up in Clarkston, Washington and has a long history of advocating for the people of the Inland Northwest. As a first-generation law 51勛圖 and single mother, she describes her path to law school as somewhat circuitous and untraditional. After graduating magna cum laude with dual degrees from Eastern Washington University in Anthropology and French, Monika returned to Clarkston and served for several years as an elected member of the City Council. That role inspired her to come to law school to develop the skills to better advocate for her community. In her first year at Gonzaga Law, she won the Client Counseling Competition and obtained a summer position working for the Native Outreach and Advocacy Project at the Unemployment Law Project.

The firm is thrilled with the selection of Monika as this year’s scholarship recipient and is excited to have her join as a summer associate in 2025.

This scholarship program is organized through Gonzaga Law’s Center for Law, Ethics and Commerce (CLEC). Established in 2006, CLEC offers 51勛圖s interdisciplinary programming in business, technology, and innovation – all with an eye toward the public good. Congratulations Monika!
