Guardian FAQ

This resource is designed to provide facts and answers to common questions about the Rave Guardian app. If you have a question that is not answered in the FAQs, you may contact our Campus Security Crime Prevention Office at (509) 313-4018.

Yes. To access the Gonzaga University instance of Rave Guardian, you must use an active Gonzaga University zagmail.gonzaga.edu or Gonzaga.edu email address.   

 

No. Only those with a Gonzaga University email address will be able to download the Gonzaga instance of the Rave Guardian app. You can identify a family member as an emergency contact or Guardian when using a safety timer. 

 

Yes. Timers can be set anywhere. In the event of an emergency off-campus, you should dial 9-1-1.  

 

Yes. Your phone must have access to either the iOS App Store or Google Play Store for you to download and use the Rave Guardian app.  

 

The user who sets the timer receives several reminder messages before the alarm goes off. When an alarm goes off, it notifies your Guardian(s) for action.  

 

Anyone with a mobile device capable of receiving text messages. Guardians do not have to be Gonzaga-affiliated and can be any individual who is a contact in your device.  

 

Your designated Guardian is the only person notified when a safety timer expires. Your Guardian has the option to contact Gonzaga Campus Security and Public Safety when a timer expires, but that decision is at the discretion of the Guardian.  

 

No. Only your identified Guardian(s) will be able to follow your location when you are using a safety timer.  

 

This depends on the functionality you are utilizing. Campus Security cannot actively track your location with the Rave Guardian app unless you engage in the specific uses of the app mentioned here; placing a call to 9-1-1 in the Rave Guardian App, or when you call Campus Security within the app. In both circumstances, you have the option to share your location with a campus security dispatcher.    

 

No. The app stores only the information you submit in your Rave Guardian profile, including the following: first name, last name, language, email address, mobile phone number, landline number.  

 

Yes. You can turn off location sharing permissions for the Rave Guardian App. Please follow the instructions for modifying your device's location services based on the operating system it uses.    

  

  

 

No. You will not have the ability to respond to messages that you receive from the inbox. Messages in the inbox are for emergency notification only.
