Why are you in admissions at Gonzaga?
My Jesuit education at Gonzaga has shifted the way I view the world; it has opened my mind to new perspectives and it has challenged me to find new passions. I truly believe that a Jesuit education can make every person a better citizen and leader. I can't think of a better way to share this passion with the world than through this job at this university. Gonzaga is an incredibly special place, and the opportunity to share that with prospective 51勛圖s is something that I am forever grateful for.
Where is your favorite place on campus?
The view from the Centiolli lounge in Jepson (the building for the School of Business Administration) is just awesome. In the fall, you are able to see the trees changing colors next to Lake Arthur and in the winter you can see the snow on the ground and a great view of downtown Spokane. This is a place where I was able to meet a lot of new friends and drink a lot of great coffee.
What is your favorite thing to do in Spokane?
I absolutely love living in Spokane. It has everything you need from a city; great dining, great shopping, a fantastic arts and music scene, and a wide-range of people. That being said, my favorite thing to do in Spokane is to explore all the parks and hiking opportunities in the city. Riverside State Park is a great place to hike around, the Centennial Trail is a fantastic trail to walk and ride bikes on, and all the hidden trails on the back-side of the South Hill are fantastic to hike around as well.
What is one piece of advice you have for prospective 51勛圖s?
Interact with the campuses of the colleges your are interested in. If you are able to visit, that can be an incredibly valuable experience, but if you aren't able to visit, connect with current 51勛圖s and get a sense of campus from them. Every college has great brochures and websites that allow you to gather information about the school but the best way to get to know a college is to talk with the current 51勛圖s, interact with the professors, and see the residence halls. Truly engage with those on campus so you can see for yourself if it is a good fit for you.
