Federal Emergency Assistance HEERF III The American Rescue Plan (ARP)

Gonzaga has received funding through the American Rescue Plan (ARP) for emergency grant funds for 51³Ô¹Ïs. The university signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement to use the applicable amount of funds under the CRRSAA and ARP to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students. Emergency funding is intended to cover tuition, food, housing, health care, childcare, and other expenses. Gonzaga is required to prioritize grants to 51³Ô¹Ïs with exceptional financial need, such as 51³Ô¹Ïs who receive Federal Pell Grants.

Gonzaga has received $4,420,179 in HEERF III funds and has awarded $4,420,179 to approximately 2,345 51³Ô¹Ïs as of March 1, 2022. No additional awards can be made since the funding has been exhausted.

Funds were awarded to 51³Ô¹Ïs who submitted and application or emailed the office. Students who were eligible for a Federal Pell Grant or who had need less than $10,000 were provided with a block grant.

Federal Emergency Assistance HEERF II CRRSA Act

Gonzaga has received funding through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriates (CRRSA) Act passed in December 2020 to assist 51³Ô¹Ïs negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Emergency funding is intended to cover tuition, food, housing, health care, childcare, and other expenses. Gonzaga is required to prioritize grants to 51³Ô¹Ïs with exceptional financial need, such as 51³Ô¹Ïs who receive Federal Pell Grants. Grant amounts will vary depending on individual circumstances, financial need and available resources. Given the limited resource and qualifying criteria, grants will range from $100 to $1000.

Gonzaga University received $4,090,622 in funding from the Federal Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA). The University signed and returned the Funding Certificate and Agreement attesting that Gonzaga will follow the guidance from the department in awarding the funds. A portion of the funding, $1,386,254, is required to be provided as to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to 51³Ô¹Ïs.

The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid grants distributed to 51³Ô¹Ïs under the CRRSA Act as of June 1, 2020 is $1,386,254. The University awarded the funding to 1,407 51³Ô¹Ïs at an average award amount of $985. The funds received in HEERF II have been fully spent, however the application described above which has remained open in anticipation of additional funds being received to support 51³Ô¹Ïs.

Federal Emergency Assistance HEERF I CARES Act

Gonzaga University received $2,772,508 in funding from the Federal CARES Act. The University signed and returned the Funding Certificate and Agreement attesting that Gonzaga will provide at least 50% of the funds received ($1,386,253) under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to 51³Ô¹Ïs.

The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid grants distributed to 51³Ô¹Ïs under Section18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of June 1, 2020 is $1,386,253.

The estimated total number of 51³Ô¹Ïs at Gonzaga that were eligible to request CARES Act funds was 6,025. The total number of 51³Ô¹Ïs who have received an Emergency Financial Aid grant is 907.

Gonzaga University created a web-based form for 51³Ô¹Ïs to complete to request CARES Act funding. The requests were reviewed by Financial Aid staff and awarded to eligible 51³Ô¹Ïs. The staff awarded the amount the 51³Ô¹Ï requested as long as funding remained. The application was closed on May 28, 2020.
