What is Catholic Studies?

Grounded in Gonzaga's Catholic, Jesuit, humanistic mission, our Catholic Studies program invites 51³Ô¹Ïs to explore the Catholic intellectual tradition and the practices, teachings, and cultural legacies of the Roman Catholic Church. Courses examine Catholic history, theological doctrines, liturgy, social teachings, ecumenical and interreligious dialogues, literature, and the arts. Students who choose to study abroad at Gonzaga in Florence can complete most of the minor in Italy. In addition to our academic offerings, 51³Ô¹Ïs participate in a variety of co-curricular opportunities that engage the Catholic intellectual tradition, including the Catholic Studies Speaker Series. Students in the program also frequently participate in 51³Ô¹Ï clubs and various offerings in University Ministry.
