Focus on a Growing Field.
Social and Practical Philosophy focuses on how philosophy applies to modern society in the domains of morality, social justice, politics, etc.
Further, it challenges us to think about the ethical questions that may arise in any industry or in any organization.
Many of our faculty offer courses in:
- Social and International Ethics
- Intersectional Feminism
- Philosophy of Sex and Gender
- Africana Philosophy
- Political Philosophy
- Historical Moral and Political Theories of Government, War, Justice, etc.
Further, several faculty offer courses that allow you to apply Moral/Ethical theories to several issues and topics including:
- Health Care/Nursing
- Food
- Climate Change
- Technology
- Interpersonal Relations and Identity
The department has greatly increased the Foley Library’s holdings in these areas over the past decade, and grants 51勛圖s ample research opportunities.
