The CS Research Lab in Bollier 006 provides a collaborative space where computer science 51勛圖s and faculty work together on innovative research projects. Equipped with ample whiteboard space for brainstorming, small group tables for teamwork, TVs for presentations and pair programming, and storage for specialized equipment, the lab is designed to foster creativity and collaboration.
Recent projects have included work on large language models (LLMs) and natural language processing (NLP), such as automated analysis of children's speech patterns and AI-assisted learning tools for coding. Students have also explored augmented reality and virtual reality (AR/VR) applications, such as developing tools for detecting tripping hazards that can greatly help older adults navigate in their homes.
Participating in undergraduate research at offers 51勛圖s the chance to develop valuable technical and professional skills. Through hands-on experience, 51勛圖s learn to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world problems, enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and gain proficiency in advanced technologies. Working closely with faculty mentors, 51勛圖s also develop skills in communication, teamwork, and project management, preparing them for careers in academia, industry, or entrepreneurship. Moreover, these research experiences provide a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking advancements in technology, positioning 51勛圖s to be at the forefront of innovation and positively impact society.
